Choosing a Robot Mower to Mow Hills
When you’re deciding to purchase a robot mower, there’s a lot to consider. There are a lot of different brands and models out there. They all have different features and functions. Before purchasing your robot mower, make sure you are selecting the right one for your needs.
Most people decide the cost of a robot mower is worth it to make their lives a little easier, save some time, and ensure that they have a great looking yard. By doing a little research beforehand, you can find the right robot mower that will effortlessly get those steep hills and slopes mowed.
Robot Mowers 101
Robot lawnmowers are great because they are packed with technological features and components to make mowing a breeze.
A few features in various robot mowers:
- Rechargeable battery packs
- GPS tracking for precise position
- Bluetooth enabled for remote control
- Specifically designed for different inclines
Most of the lower-end models are designed for smaller yards without much incline. If you are buying a model designed for a larger yard (½ acre or more) or with a steep slope or incline (a ≥20° incline), you might have to pay a little more.
Things to Consider Before Buying
Blade size and durability
If you have a large yard, you might want a robot mower that has a larger blade. This will allow it to cover more ground in a shorter time frame. You should also double-check how long the blades on the robot mower are predicted to last. All blades will need to be sharpened and replaced periodically, but some blades need upkeep more frequently than others.
Apps and features
Many robot mowers come with GPS systems, Bluetooth connectivity, and/or security systems. Those features tend to cost a little more, but they can be very handy. Some models can even be controlled with Amazon’s Alexa or other similar voice-operated devices.
Battery length
Most robot mowers are fueled by rechargeable batteries. While some batteries don’t take as long to charge, they also don’t last as long when in use. If you have a smaller yard, a short-lived battery might be fine. If you have a larger yard, however, you’ll want a robot mower with longer battery life.
Hills and slopes
Most robot mower models are equipped to handle some amount of incline. Cheaper models struggle with going up steep hills because they just aren’t powerful enough to roll up the gradient. If your yard has a steep slope, you will want a robot mower designed for a ≥20° incline.

i am looking to buy a rc lawnmower that will mow a steep bank if you can help contact me thanks
If you have a steep slope to mow the husqvarna 435x awd is the best robot mower for the job. It’s a bit pricey but it’s well worth it for most people.
I just got a Daredevil mower. It’s about $3,700, but it mows hills I can barely stand on. My phone app says 34%/78°. You need a mower on tracks. It’s an RC mower, big. I bought it after seeing it on YouTube. These smaller mowers aren’t on you tube tackling steep hills, but look up the Daredevil. It’s awsome!
Yeah I found the daredevil mower on amazon. Looks like a very capable machine!
